Kurt Schwitters was born in Hanover on June 20, 1887.

Schwitters is credited with the creation of "Merz" the process of collage which often contained political and social comment and had links with the Dadist group. With the outbreak of WW11 Schwitters fled to Norway where he maintained his links with Dada , later he moved to the UK where he was interned in Scotland. Schwitters is has influenced many artists including Ed Rucha, Rauchenburg and Hirst.
