William Roberts was born in Hackney on June 4th 1895, he attended St Martins and The Slade where he met Bomberg and Stanley Spencer. Roberts was a member of the"Vortisist" group although he preferred the term "Cubist". The Tate gallery owns the bulk of his estate, 117 paintings in total.
