William Roberts was born in Hackney on June 4th 1895, he attended St Martins and The Slade where he met Bomberg and Stanley Spencer. Roberts was a member of the"Vortisist" group although he preferred the term "Cubist".
Painter, print maker, illustrator, designer of public spaces and furniture, Raoul Dufy was a multi facetted artist. Influenced by Matisse and the vivid colours used by the "Fauves" Dufy enjoyed great success and popularity durin his lifetime, his images of Nice and the Bay of Angels are still greatly admired to this day.
